Medical Disclaimer
Harms Health provides telephonic and virtual medical consultations conducted by a licensed medical practitioner, Dr Richard Harms (MBChB, MP No: MP0889229, Practice No: 9990140001242873). While every effort is made to ensure accurate diagnosis and safe medical advice, virtual consultations have inherent limitations. These may include the inability to conduct a physical examination, access vital signs, or fully assess certain symptoms.
As such:
The information provided during a virtual consultation is based solely on the information disclosed by the patient and any available documentation or images.
Diagnoses and treatment plans are made in good faith, within the scope of information provided.
Where a more comprehensive physical evaluation is required, patients will be advised to seek in-person medical care.
Harms Health does not offer emergency care, and any urgent or life-threatening symptoms should be directed to the nearest hospital or emergency service.
Indemnity Agreement
By engaging with Harms Health services, the patient (or guardian, if applicable) acknowledges and accepts the following:
Voluntary Participation: The patient agrees to participate in virtual consultations willingly and understands the limitations of such services.
Information Accuracy: The patient confirms that all medical information provided is truthful, complete, and current to the best of their knowledge.
Scope of Care: The patient understands that Harms Health may be unable to provide comprehensive medical management for certain conditions via virtual consultation alone.
No Guarantee: While every effort is made to ensure quality care, Harms Health does not guarantee specific outcomes from treatment, prescriptions, or advice rendered.
Prescriptions & Payment: Prescriptions will only be issued once payment has been received in full. Harms Health does not bill medical aids.
Medical Records: Clinical notes and patient communications are stored securely and in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Limitation of Liability: The patient agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Dr Richard Harms and Harms Health from any claims, demands, damages, or legal actions arising from or connected to the use of this service, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Confidentiality
All communications between the patient and Harms Health are confidential and managed in accordance with South African privacy legislation (POPIA). We do not share patient information with third parties unless required by law or with patient consent.
